Moving On...

Yes.. it's been a long break. I still can't assure that I'm fully back. A major part of 'Liya blogging' has been on hold for more than 2 months now. We were fully tied up with many more things happening everyday. The biggest news is that we are LEAVING America for good...In Sha Allah (God Wills)!

After long thinking, un-thinking and re-thinking, we have finally decided to move back to India. We were busy planning the big move. Shopping, packing, cleaning, selling, throwing... Ma Sha Allah (As God willed), everything has been going good, so far!

So, we have another 3 days in the US. 30th Aug we will say goodbye to US. New place, new school, new surrounding... life is going to be a complete change for Liya, but we hope for the best!

P.S: Book Club and Bucketlists were on hold too. I have missed to update bucketlist for June and July. Doesn't mean that we were not following our milestones. Just that I was lazy to blog...lols. Will update soon..:) In Sha Allah!

♫ 20 months ♫

Liya is celebrating her 20th month on the face of the earth. Well, let's see what is she up to these days.

Linguistic:
She is able to form complete sentences. We do speak Malayalam at home. But as you know she's been exposed to the world of books, and she has non-Malayalam speaking friends around that she is picking up English faster. [I do teach her too].

Weekend & Reading Updates

What did we do in this weekend? Finally, we took a membership in Buffalo Public Library. We spent almost 2 hours there. Liya was super excited to see tons of books together.

What did Liya do there? She played in the mini kitchen play area. She spent a long time on the jigsaw board puzzles. She did not know what to do with puzzles, hence I showed her. Most of them were linked with animals and best suiting for early beginners like her. I stated each animal's name and showed her how to group up the puzzle. She was shouting in ecstasy. She pronounced the names so louder that people stopped by and gave a weird/smiley look. She waved and greeted every one with Hello, said untimely Thank you's to people walked by, she watched children playing, talked them in her own mixed dialect consisted of broken English and 'childish' Malayalam. She read so many books randomly.

Weekend at 'Explore and More'

It's been long time since I am planning to take Liya to some play group. Mainly because she doesn't get much children to mingle and play with and hence she is growing selfish and unsocial everyday. :D

I found out Explore and More through internet, which is WNY's only one Children's Museum (as they claim).

Day 1 in Buffalo

The day one was much better than I anticipated. Liya was kind of tired due to travel and jet lag. She did not like the sudden change in her sleeping, playing and eating timings. The climate was suddenly gone bad and had fallen into -3 to -5 range.

J's friends (Amit and Mansoor) took us to Walmart  for our quick shoppings and then we went to rent a car. Liya did not seem to be comfortable in her new car seat. She was crying terribly. Amit had to park car many times in between the travel. Looks like she was caught by jetlag badly.

Trip to US- Part 6: Reaching Buffalo

At last, the long awaited boarding for our flight to Buffalo announced. It was so relieving, as we were all tired and were simply sitting in the Dulles airport. The flight was too small, I could hardly walk inside. Felt like my head might hit the roof. Liya was getting irritated in the small flight. I think, domestic flights in India are much better and are heaven compared to this 'match box' like airbus. It was almost an hour journey and we landed Buffalo safely. The airport is not very big, but very beautiful and hygienic.
This is the main airport nearby Naigara falls and hence this is one of the popular one in New York state.

Our bags which came much before us (in the 5 o'clock flight) were waiting for our arrival. As soon as we got out, Buffalo weather hit us. It was too cold outside and Liya's cheeks immediately turned red. We reached Residency Inn (which falls in Marriot hotels network)in another 10-15 minutes. We including Liya slept peacefully through night.
