Books we Read :: Vegetable And Fruity Stories | A Trick For A Trick

Most of the books we reviewed in Princess Liya are either by international authors or popular by its title. However, last time when we visited a book fair at Liya's school, I stumbled upon some Vegetable and Fruity stories. I never came across these books before.

Often, I look for moral stories to read with Liya because I find her taking the lessons seriously and putting them into practice. Moral stories do inspire them a lot more than we imagine. Looks like the book hasn't gone very popular in India, I don't know why. We liked it and already read it umpteen times. :)

Books We Read : Tick Tock Clock (Telling the Time - part 2)

You probably know that we are learning to tell the time and might have seen the activity we did here. We are reading books and doing some worksheet exercises to reinforce our learning.

The book we chose to discuss is Tick Tock Clock (My First I Can Read).

Why this book?  It is an "I can read- level -1" book. Easy for Liya to read with mum.
[With level 1 books we have reached on an agreement - she will start with title, mum will read couple of lines, then girl will read couple of lines and it continues.]
Oh, yes! Too much of negotiations happening in our household these days!

Book of the Week :: Little Apple Goat

Note: Another super delayed post, originally scheduled for April 25.
Theme: Jungle
Why this theme?: You all know 22 April was earth day. This earth and everything in it is a blessing for us and the greenery we see around is the donor of our bread and breath. We have to be grateful and hence we must preserve its originality and should not tamper it.  The awareness must start from within our homes and we owe to pass over the message to our little buds, as well. So, we chose to learn about the greenery from Little Apple Goat. This book is not about jungles but about orchards.

What's it all about...?

Book of the Week ~ Frosty the Snowman

Welcome to another 'Book of the Week'. Once again Liya and myself wholeheartedly apologize for not sharing 'story time' with you, for a few weeks. Our theme for the week is SNOW.
Well, snow seems to be fairly late to hit Buffalo this year, we hardly saw one or two of them. Just a plain winter compared to last year. But yes, we are loving it.
Thumpety thumpety thump thump,  Thumpety thumpety thump thump,
Look at Frosty go!

Book of the Week :: Guess how much I love you!

Theme: Love
Our Pick: Guess How Much I Love You
Author: Sam McBratney

"Guess how much I love you," says Little Nutbrown Hare. Little Nutbrown Hare shows his daddy how much he loves him: as wide as he can reach and as far as he can hop. But Big Nutbrown Hare, who can reach farther and hop higher, loves him back just as much. Well then lil Nutbrown Hare loves him right up to the moon, but that's just halfway to Big Nutbrown Hare's love for him.

A sneak peak at Liya's  day with the book.

Book of the Week :: Dimity Duck

As I told earlier, we are sticking to a THEME and reading along with Rainbow. The theme for the week is FRIENDS, hence we chose Dimity Duck by Jane Yolen.

It is all about... a duck Dimity and a day in her life. There begins a day as
Dimity Duck Waddles,
she toddles out of bed...
